September 2015 Ipsy Bag

Monday, September 28, 2015

I wanted to put this post up earlier, but I guess better late than never! I really wanted to review this bag for you guys because it was just so freaking good. I swear, Ipsy keeps getting better and better each month. First off, I LOVED THE FREAKING BAG. Hands down, this has been one of the most sophisticated, prettiest makeup bags I've ever seen. The texture and quality of the bag is really nice too. I love the color palette as well, and love the sheer simplicity yet luxurious look it has. Needless to say, I'm definitely going to be using this makeup bag for traveling!

The products this month were really nice as well. I'll start off with my least favorite, the Not Soap, Radio Revitalizing Hand/Body Lotion. I don't like runny hand creams like this. I've become more of a fan of those little metal-like tubes because they're much more potent and less runny than the lotions in bottles. Hope that made sense. The other skin product this month was the Glam Glow Flashmud Brightening Treatment. I've heard SO many good things about this brand, but have never been able to shell out the money for it. I'm very glad I got a sample of one of their face masks this month. I know Sephora has deluxe samples of these masks from time to time, but I always miss it.

The biggest makeup product in the bag this month was the NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow Trio. I haven't had much luck with these palettes in the past. The quality isn't that great and the shadows tend to crease and fall out over the course of the day. I'm still excited to try these colors though because of the sparkle they bring. To help the shadows stick, I'm glad I got a sample of theBalm Put A Lid On It Eyelid Primer. I swear by the Urban Decay eyeshadow primer, but I'm excited to try a different brand out. As always, theBalm packaging is incredibly adorable. Lastly, I got a cute little nail polish sample, the Formula X Nail Color in Ignite. Really gorgeous color and I've heard amazing things about the formula, so better late than never!

Sorry For the Break!

So yes, I haven't updated the blog in a while!

I did, however, find time to update the layout a bit. I still want to clean it up a bit more, but for now I'm happy with it. I really wanted a classic, clean black and white layout for a while. Much needed change from my usual pink palette.

A number of things have been going on. For starters, I submitted my residency applications last Tuesday and have gotten 9 interviews thus far. I applied to 33 places and it's only been about 10 days, so that's pretty good! I still haven't heard from a handful of programs on my "most wanted" list, but it's still early in the season and I'm keeping my hopes up. I'm hoping to tailor my final interview list down to 10-15 programs. My calendar is so clogged up in November and December, which is both a good and a bad thing. I love traveling, but it's around the holidays which is my favorite time of the year to spend with family relaxing at home. Oh, and I also finished my last core rotation of medical school this past Friday! Bring on the electives, vacation months, and vacation electives!

I've been wearing such minimal makeup these past few weeks, that I haven't had much to blog about. Now that things are finally calming down, I want to start playing around with fall looks and new makeup. I already have some photos taken and going to be pre-writing blogs tomorrow morning! Lots of exciting stuff coming up soon including a fall haul, bonfire party planning, baking stuff, some glittery craft projects I've been working on, and more! Hopefully some travel posts mixed along in there as well :) happy fall, y'all!

I ♥ Fall Tag

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

It's finally September!!!! I love love love this time of year. Weather's getting better, beautiful scenery, pumpkins, cinnamon, baking, fall festivals, cozy sweaters, flannel, the holidays...I love every single bit of it. I figured that to kick off the fall season, I'd do the infamous I <3 Fall tag. As you'll see, I'm super indecisive and have a ton of fall favorites. Enjoy!

1. Favorite fall lip product
I love to wear red-brown and berry toned lipsticks and lip glosses in the fall. Some of my favorites are the Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum and the Clinique Chubby Stick in Fuller Fig.

2. Favorite fall nail polish
Crimson shades and deep, rich violets are my favorite nail colors this time of year. They look so elegant and classy, especially paired with gold jewelry and accents. Some of my favorites are Essie Bahama Mama, Essie Shearling Darling, and OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest.

3. Favorite Starbucks fall drink
Without a doubt, the infamous Starbucks pumpkin spice latte!

4. Favorite fall candle
Bath and Body Works come out with an excellent variety of fall candles every season. I try to switch it up and try different scents each fall. But, if I had to pick one scent, I'd definitely pick Leaves since that's the most "classic", most perfect fall scent (like apple cinnamon, yum!). Some of my other fall favorites are Pumpkin Cupcake and Marshmallow Fireside (which also is perfect for the winter!).

5. Favorite fall scarf or accessory
I love wearing scarves during fall. I especially love my red, black, and white plaid scarf and my magenta Paisley scarf. I also love wearing thick, crocheted scarves during chilly fall days.

6. Haunted house, haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze
Yuck! I'm not a fan of haunted anything. If I had to pick one, I'd choose the haunted hay ride.

7. Favorite Halloween movie
Silly as this sounds, I love watching Coraline with my family. Super creepy movie, but family friendly and not super spooky. Harry Potter is another great one to watch during this time. This year, I'm hoping to FINALLY catch Hocus Pocus on ABC Family's 13 Nights of Halloween series!

8. Favorite candy to eat on Halloween
Twix! Although all of the fun size candy bars are delicious.

9. What are you dressing up for as Halloween?
Not sure yet! I usually do group costumes. We haven't decided on a theme yet this year!

10. What is your favorite thing about fall?
EVERYTHING. The weather, the fun activities, football season, pumpkin scented everything, candles, baking, family time, Thanksgiving....I love how cozy the season feels!
