Quick Update

I've been MIA for so long. This Surgery rotation has literally drained every single ounce of my energy.

I knew I said the same about my Medicine rotation back in December, but this rotation has definitely topped that one by far. I've worked with some of the rudest, most arrogant people and I'm just tired of being with residents who clearly don't value my time or want me there. I feel like I'm paying so much money to be in this school, but I'm getting treated like a joke/like I'm stupid and not learning as much as I should be. It's okay though, I've decided to just bite my tongue, keep quiet, and suck it up for two more days. I haven't had time to do anything remotely fun or keep up with life things. All my time is spent in the OR from 5am-7pm and and then studying in the library afterwards for two exams. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to do well on either exam, but at this point I just want to be done with a Passing grade. That's how fed up I am...I'm not even motivated to delusion myself into thinking that I'm going to do well in this block.

But anyway. My last day of this rotation is Wednesday and we have Thursday to study for our exams on Friday. I am SO excited, I really need to be done with this terrible terrible rotation. I have some blog posts planned out and I cannot wait to get back into the swing of things, including getting back to track with my health. This rotation was my last toughie, so I am dun-zo soon! Two more days...two more days....whew think calm thoughts....

Hey all.

Usually I try to update this blog a few times over the weekend, but lately I haven't really been up to blogging. I recently ordered a package from Makeup Geek and I was really crushed when I realized that despite saying "Delivered" on the USPS tracking site, my package was nowhere to be found in my apartment complex. I'm not sure what exactly happened. I don't know if it got mailed to the wrong address, somebody stole it, or it was a USPS computer error. I've been waiting for a week and still nothing, so it's unlikely to be a computer error at this point.

I haven't gotten in touch with USPS yet regarding this matter; I was actually planning on going tomorrow in person to figure things out. From what I read on the internet, USPS doesn't really do anything about lost packages. They just make you file a claim and usually you get no response back. I have heard that Makeup Geek has good customer service, so I'm hoping I can explain my situation and get some sort of refund, gift voucher, or have the products mailed to me again. I paid about $42 for a bunch of makeup I was SUPER excited to try, so it's a little disheartening that this has happened. It's put me in a really foul mood. Everytime I think about makeup now, I automatically go back to thinking about how I lost a $50 package in the mail and may not get my money back. I haven't watched any Youtube videos or visited my favorite beauty blogs in a while, which is saying quite a lot.

I online shop all the time and nothing like this has happened to me before, so I'm not sure what to make of it. I have a hard time believing somebody stole the package because my apartment complex is huge and it would be weird if my package was the only one stolen out of the 20 packages sitting in our lobby. It most likely was delivered to the wrong address, but I'm not sure what USPS or MUG would do about that. I'm crossing my fingers that MUG will be nice and re-ship my order, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Until I get the situation sorted out, I probably won't be blogging. As I mentioned, thinking about anything beauty or makeup related just makes me feel upset about the situation and my heart just isn't into it right now. A $50 package may not seem like a lot, but when you're a medical student with a bunch of loans, it means the world. Here's hoping I can retrieve my package! :(

$10 Sundays: Powder Brush & Maybelline Color Tattoo

Sunday, February 1, 2015

I actually bought these two beauties a month back and forgot about them until I was cleaning my apartment the other week. So I figured I'd feature them as this week's $10 Sunday since they were around $10!

I really love the Maybelline Color Tattoos -- they are such beautiful, affordable, good quality cream shadows. Although it can be a pain applying them smoothly over my oily lids, I really like them because they stay put all day and look more intense than powder shadows. I already own the cult favorite color, Bad to the Bronze, and one of the limited edition shades, Beige-ing Beauty, but I really wanted another neutral, everyday cream eyeshadow. I love Bad to the Bronze as an everyday shadow, but it's very cool-toned and I wanted a gold cream shadow since gold looks absolutely stunning against my tan skin. The swatches of the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold looked so beautiful that I had to pick it up. I haven't opened the pot yet, but I'm super excited to try it on! I'm hoping it's not super metallic but the great thing about these cream shadows is that they're very easy to blend to your desired intensity.

Next, I also purchased the Real Techniques Powder Brush. I bought this because I really wanted a large fluffy powder brush. I was previously using the poofy ELF Face Brush, but the bristles of the brush kinda went haywire after multiple washings. Therefore, I got this brush for a smoother application of my bareMinerals Mineral Veil. Although I've recently come to terms with my ELF Face Brush and have been using it for my powder without any issues, I'm still going to hang on to this brush as a backup or even as a blush brush. The Real Technique brushes are really great quality at very affordable prices and I'm sure this one's not going to disappoint.
